Thank you for visiting our site.  The Alternate Defender’s office is responsible for representing those financially unable to employ counsel and who are charged with the commission of any contempt or criminal offense triable in the Mendocino County Superior Court.  When the Public Defender’s Office has a conflict, such as where two or more defendants are charged in the same complaint and the Public Defender thus cannot represent both defendants, or they previously represented a victim or witness in the current matter, our office is appointed.  We are appointed to cases ranging from misdemeanors to capital cases; certain custody proceedings pursuant to the Welfare and Institutions Code, and certain probate guardianship proceedings pursuant to the Probate Code.  The combined experience of the three attorneys in our office exceeds 70 years in the practice of law.  We are here to provide zealous advocacy to our clients, and options they may have to resolve their legal matters.  If you have questions about your case, and we have been appointed to represent you, please give us a call.
